Campus Life, Student Organizations, and Volunteer Opportunities

The Lousiana Scholars' College is a living and learning environment. Scholars' students have a designated living area in University Place Phase II, the apartment-style dorms on Northwestern State's campus.

NSU houses over 100 recognized student organizations, all of which hold volunteer events. Check out http://nsula.orgsync.com/ for a full list. Get involved!

Some of our students volunteer with Natchitoches Hope for Paws, a local rescue organization that is run solely on donated funds and supplies.
There are lots of service and service learning opportunities across campus. Contact Mr. Steve Gruesbeck, Director of Service Learning at 318.357.5911 or email at sgruesbeck@nsula.edu.

"The Student Activities Board is a great way to meet people! We plan events for the whole student body and we get over $100,000 to play with. It's one of the best experiences I have had here at NSU! Not only is it extremely fun, but I have received scholarships for planning events. It's just a great way to spend your time, especially when you get rewarded for the hard work."

Austin McCann
Business Administration '13

I initially got involved in Student Government Association through a fellow Scholar, who encouraged me to become a senator. After being on SGA, I realized that I had a heart for working with people and for management. I ended up picking up a Business Administration minor ot help afvance my skill set for President, and I ended up deciding that I wante to work in Music Business for my career! I learned a lot about myself, inter-personal skills, and about time management.
